CHTM Faculty Participate in Canvas LMS Retooling and Audit Review Session

The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) conducted a Canvas LMS retooling session as part of Faculty Development Plan on May 30, 2026, at Room F801, facilitated by Ms. Joycelyn P. Ituriaga, LMS Coordinator. The activity gathered CHTM faculty members to discuss updates and best practices in maximizing the University’s Learning Management System (LMS).

The session began with an activity that encouraged faculty members to reflect on what are the bottlenecks of instructors in implementing the full potential of Canvas LMS. This opened meaningful discussions on the common challenges encountered in managing and maintaining Canvas course cards.

Key topics discussed included CHTM LMS retooling updates, Canvas audit results, the evaluation tool, and the Community of Practice initiative. A highlight was the presentation of the Canvas Audit Results conducted on May 14–15, 2026, which reviewed 133 faculty courses across the College. Faculty members were guided on how to address the concerns on populating course card content and ensure that course content aligns with University standards and the academic calendar.

Ms. Ituriaga also emphasized the importance of Canvas as a centralized platform for sharing syllabi, learning materials, multimedia resources, and course information. To support faculty members, step-by-step demonstrations on the best practices of course setup and module creation were provided, helping participants organize content in a structured and student-friendly manner.

This initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by enhancing faculty capability in delivering quality, technology-supported instruction. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the effective adoption of digital learning platforms that promote innovation and continuous improvement in higher education.
