CONAHS Faculty Leaders and Coordinators Oriented on the New Canvas LMS Course Format
As part of the University’s continuing efforts to strengthen digital teaching and learning, Mr. John Carlo Boleyley, Education Technology Specialist, conducted an orientation session on the new Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) course format for the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CONAHS) on February 27, 2026, at PLR 1 and the CONAHS Faculty Office. The activity was attended by Dr. Judith G. Magwilang, Dean of CONAHS, together with the College’s Program Chairs and Year Level Coordinators.
During the session, the updated Canvas LMS course structure was introduced, which was designed to provide a more organized, student-friendly, and accessible learning environment. Participants were guided through the step-by-step process of setting up courses and creating modules, enabling them to arrange learning materials and activities in a clear and logical sequence.
A key highlight of the activity was the demonstration of Canvas as a centralized platform for managing course content. Faculty leaders and coordinators were shown how syllabi, learning materials, files, and multimedia resources can be uploaded and organized within a single course environment. This approach reduces dependence on physical handouts while providing students with convenient access to course resources anytime and anywhere.
During the activity, the importance of designing well-structured course cards was also emphasized to support student learning beyond classroom instruction. By maximizing the features of Canvas LMS, faculty members can create organized and engaging learning spaces that promote accessibility, academic continuity, and effective course management.
Through this orientation, CONAHS strengthened its readiness to implement the new Canvas LMS format across its academic programs. The activity equipped the College’s academic leaders with the knowledge needed to guide faculty members in adopting consistent, student-centered course designs that enhance the overall learning experience.
This initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting technology-enhanced and accessible learning opportunities. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the effective integration of digital technologies that strengthen educational delivery and innovation within the University.
