To support the smooth transition of newly enrolled international students into the University’s digital learning environment, an orientation on the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) was conducted on May 22, 2026, at the UC Libraries Peer Learning Room 4. The session was held in coordination with the Student Affairs Services – Student Development and Welfare Center as part of the broader orientation program for new international students for the 3rd Trimester, AY 2025-2026.
The activity was organized to familiarize incoming international students with Canvas LMS as the University’s primary platform for instructional delivery and academic engagement. It aimed to equip new students with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the system confidently as they begin their academic journey at the University.
The session, facilitated by Mr. John Carlo Boleyley, Education Technology Specialist, centered on the new Canvas LMS course template. Participants were introduced to the platform’s updated layout, including how courses are structured, organized, and accessed. The orientation walked students through key features of the template, such as locating learning materials, course modules, and other essential components needed to actively participate in their classes.
By introducing the new course template early in their academic transition, the orientation helped new international students build familiarity and confidence in using Canvas LMS from the start of their studies. This early exposure supports a smoother adjustment to the University’s digital learning environment and academic expectations.
This initiative reflects the University’s continuing commitment to inclusive and technology-enhanced education, particularly for its growing international student population. It contributes primarily to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by ensuring equitable access to digital learning tools for all students, and aligns with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the integration of modern educational technology into the academic on boarding process.
